Executive Director
Kanggun is currently a senior at Monroe-Woodbury. Within his extracurriculars, he is the Class of 2025 President, President of the Math Honor Society, President of the Science Olympiad, President of Interact Club, Treasurer of both the Model UN and the National Honor Society. Kanggun also serves as the leading flute player in his school's Wind Ensemble, also serving as the Vice President. Apart from those activities, he is a diligent athlete for the MWHS Men's Varsity Tennis, and part of several honor societies including the National, Math, Spanish, and Music Honor society. Outside of school, Kanggun frequently volunteers at his church. In his free time, he enjoys playing tennis, games, talking with friends, and watching at the news. Kanggun is excited to organize the 2024-2025 Essential Prep program and looks forward to help everyone to do their best!

Eunbii is a junior at Monroe-Woodbury High School. She is a dedicated member within her extracurriculars, she participates in: Model UN as the Manager, Interact as the Vice President, Pep Band, and Jazz Band. Eunbii also plays the flute and piccolo in the Wind Ensemble, Pep Band, and Jazz Band. Outside of school, she has nearly a decade of experience as an Assistant Teacher and Tutor with New York Ivy Innovative Corp., specializing in the English Language Arts. In her free time, she enjoys performing in Traditional Korean Performing Arts, playing on the Girl's Varsity Flag Football team, and playing videogames with her family. Eunbii is excited to help organize the 2024-2025 Essential Prep program and help her peers succeed in their SAT preparation!

Matthew is currently a senior at Monroe-Woodbury High School. He participates in Yearbook Club, Model UN, Varsity Cross Country, and Varsity Track and Field. He is also a member of National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and Spanish Honor Society. Outside of school he volunteers at locations from the Monroe Free Library to Habitat for Humanity Re:Store. Pravin is a current senior at Monroe-Woodbury High School. He is the president of FBLA, and the secretary of Science Olympiad, and is also part of other clubs such as Model UN and Interact. He is the captain of the boys variety tennis team. He is also part of Math Honors Society and National Honors Society. Outside of school, he enjoys volunteering at the Monroe Free Library and loves cooking. He enjoys teaching others and is excited to tutor!

Abhilash is a junior at Monroe-Woodbury High School. He serves as the Press Officer for 2024-2025. He is the President of the Youth & Government club, Vice President of Model UN, Vice President of Public Relations for FBLA, and Treasurer for the Class of 2026. He does Scientific Research and is a Chamber violinist. After school he runs for the track team and cross country team. In his free time, he enjoys learning languages, playing sports, and reading. Throughout high school he interned for two NYS Congressmen, and designed digital media for multiple social organizations. He has one older brother and no pets.

Bisma is currently a senior at Monroe-Woodbury High School. In school, she is the Vice President of Science Olympiad and National honors society. Along with National Honors Society, she is also in the Spanish and Math honors societies. Bisma is a part of Monroe Woodbury’s Scientific Research program offered through UAlbany, where she is researching the effect of vitamin c and argon oil on post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. She is also a Cross Country and track athlete. Outside of school, she has volunteered at her mosque, summer camp, and the Woodbury Justice Court. Some of her hobbies include crocheting, painting, baking and spending time with family. Bisma is excited to tutor students and help them achieve their goals.

Dylan is currently a senior at Monroe Woodbury High School and is excited at the opportunity to help students. In school he is the president of NHS and the Student Representative for the Board of Education. He also directs the Drama Clubs’s productions, is a lead in the schools Morning Show, volunteers and Woodbury Community Ambulance, and is a part of Spanish Honor Society. Outside of School, Dylan directs short films and is an avid film lover. He can’t wait to begin working with everyone!

Jacob is currently a Senior at Monroe-Woodbury High School. Within his extracurricular activities, he is the Vice President of Math Honor Society, Treasurer of Music Honor Society, Secretary of the National Honor Society, Vice President of the Drama Club, and Parliamentarian of the Student Council. Jacob is also a member of LEAD mentors, as well as a member of the MWHS Voice Ensemble. Outside of school, Jacob is an avid community volunteer, and quite often volunteers with the MW Music Boosters to raise money for MW music students. In addition, he also takes voice and dance. Anushree is also a clarinetist in her school's Wind Ensemble, and enjoys spending time in various ensembles to further her interest in music. Outside of school, she volunteers at the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley and interns at a local law firm. In her spare time, she enjoys trying new recipes and going to flea markets. Kashaf is currently a senior at Monroe-Woodbury High School. Within her extracurriculars, she is the President of Debate, President of Model UN, and VP of PoW of FBLA. Apart from those activities, she is a member of the school’s Scientific Research program offerered through UAlbany, and a number of honor societies, including National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society. Outside of school, she volunteers at Garnet Health Medical Center, and has been a community volunteer for different local mosques in the area for the past few years. She also has experience tutoring students with schoolhouse.world In her spare time, she enjoys collecting jewelry, painting, working out, and skateboarding. Shreya is a senior at Monroe-Woodbury High School. In school, she is the president of FBLA, has been on the Girls' Varsity Tennis Team for 4 years, and was a fundraising officer in the STARS club. In addition, she is also part of the National Honor Society and part of Monroe Woodbury's Scientific Research Program through UAlbany, where she is researching the biomechanics of the tennis serve. Outside of school, she enjoys making and selling jewelry, as well as embroidering. Shreya also works at a physical rehabilitation center as a Physical Therapist Technician, and she also volunteers as a Youth Squad Member of the Woodbury Ambulance. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music and traveling.

Outside of school, she volunteers as a Youth Member in the Woodbury Ambulance Corp., as an international tutor on schoolhouse.world, and is actively involved in her church. Clarissa Pagoada, a high school senior, is a driven and intellectually curious individual with a passion for science and a commitment to academic excellence. Jaeden is currently a senior at Monroe-Woodbury High School. He is the treasurer for LEAD, and is a part of numerous clubs including Interact, Science Olympiad, and SRJSU. He has most recently started an internship at Mercedes-Benz. He also enjoys listening to music and playing basketball in his free time. Since Jason’s sophomore year of high school he has been a member of the Monroe-Woodbury High School Wind Ensemble where he’s acted as both a section leader and officer in his 3 year tenure in the ensemble. Outside of school, Jason is a firefighter at Sterling Forest Fire Company where he devotes countless hours both training responding to calls of service in and around his community. With a passion for music, Visakhi is a violinist in her school's Chamber Orchestra, with the position of orchestra manager, and learns, choreographs, and teaches several genres of dance during her free time. She is also a part of the Girls Varsity Tennis team and got voted Team Captain her senior year. In school, she is a member of SADD, LEAD, the freshman mentorship organization, and several honor societies, including National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and Tri-M Music Honor Society. Jeter is currently a senior at Monroe-Woodbury High School. He is a national competitor for FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) and is currently serving his third year as Chapter President and fifth year as an officer. He is also the Vice President of STARS, a club that teaches students across the district about health and wellness, and the Communications Director in National Honor Society. Jeter is also very involved in the arts, serving as the Vice President for Fundraising for the National Art Honor Society and is selected for the Senior Art Major program at the high school, specializing in sculptures. In music, he is also a clarinetist for the school's Wind Ensemble and plays other instruments independently. Outside of school, Jeter is the founder of How is Gen Z, a multimedia publication for young journalists, and volunteers for Planned Parenthood in their Community Mobilization Team.

Yoomin is currently a senior at Monroe-Woodbury High School. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society. She is a first violinist in the school's Chamber Orchestra, Hudson Valley Youth Orchestra, and performed in the Area All-State festivals. She is also a soloist and won 3rd place in the NY Virtuoso International Competition. In terms of extracurricular activities, Yoomin is in multiple clubs such as Interact, LEAD, FBLA, and the Wire Newspaper, where she is an editor and manager. Outside of school, she is a fencer on the national level and enjoys trying her hand in all kinds of sports. She is also an active volunteer, having contributed over 400 hours of service through teaching at the Korean School of New Jersey, being camp counselor at the YAC, and volunteering at Garnet Health Medical Center.

Anne is a currently a senior at Monroe-Woodbury High School. She is a member of National Honor Society, serving as secretary, as well as one of the leading officers of Mock Trial. Anne is also a member of FBLA, Spanish Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, and is currently serving her second year as the Hudson Valley representative of the New York State S.A.D.D. chapter. As a dedicated musician, Anne is a first violinist in Chamber Orchestra, in which she has the position of orchestra manager, and is also a member of the Hudson Valley Youth Orchestra. Additionally, she has been a part of the school dramas, but now works as the head of sound in the AV department. Outside of school, Anne has volunteered and been commended as a camp counselor and teacher. Anne is looking forward to meeting everyone, and is excited to be a tutor in Essential Prep for the year!

As a musician, she is now in her 9th year playing the trumpet and her 3rd year playing with the Wind Ensemble. She is apart of the Hudson Valley Honors Wind Ensemble. In addition, she performed in All County Festivals, participated in NYSSMA for 5 years. She is also an avid member in LEAD Club, AV Club, STARS Club, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and TRI-M Music Honor Society. She is an active member of the community, completing her 300+ hours for the Comprehensive Diploma her junior year. She volunteered at the Monroe Free Library for 2 years and at YAC Summer Camp as a CIT.

Stephanie is a senior involved in many school-wide honor societies such as National Honor Society, French Honor Society, and Tri-M Music Honor Society. With a heavy interest in the arts, Stephanie performs in her school's Chamber Orchestra, and has earned a spot in the All-State Festival as a violinist alongside the title of Orchestra Manager. She also enjoys digital art as a hobby outside of school. She is actively involved in the community, primarily interning for State Senator James Skoufis. There, she speaks at press conferences, plans community events, and attends meet-and-greets. Stephanie is also a member of the OCCA (Orange County Chinese Association) Planning Team and a Pit Orchestra Violinist for MWHS. She looks forward to meeting all the new students for this year and helping them score the best they can on the SAT!

Zongyuan, who goes by Derek, is currently a senior at Monroe-Woodbury High School. He is the State Vice President for District 3N and former Chapter President of Future Business Leaders of America, the largest business career student organization in the world. He also serves as the Vice President of the National Honor Society, the treasurer of Student Government, and one of two senior representatives on the Student Leadership Committee. Derek is a Varsity Tennis player, and enjoys working out. He also plays the guitar during his free time. He is an active volunteer and often spends his summers doing long-term community service such as working as a counselor-in-training at YAC, and interning at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital. He is also a certified Red Cross Blood Services Donor Ambassador. Derek is a recipient of the Rensselaer Medal, a premier merit scholarship worth up to $120,000 that's rewarded to outstanding math and science students. He is ecstatic and honored to serve as the assistant executive director this year. He can't wait to meet and work with you all!
Performance Coordinator / Tutor
Lauren is currently a senior at Monroe-Woodbury High School. She is the president of the Italian Honor Society, and is also a part of the National Honors Society, the Tri-M Music Honors Society, STARS, and SADD. Lauren is very involved in the athletics that Monroe-Woodbury has to offer, and is a two-sport Varsity athlete for Soccer and Basketball. Along with athletics, Lauren also has a great passion for music. She has been a violist for the high school’s Chamber Orchestra since her freshman year, and she was a part of an ensemble group formed by Essential Prep founder, Emily Wang, that shared their passion of music to senior centers in Woodbury. She was also chosen by her local American Legion to represent Orange County at the NY American Legion Auxiliary Girls State Conference where she was elected as a Girls State Senator. This past summer she volunteered her time at Garnet Health Medical Center, and it was there that she confirmed her aspirations to one day become a doctor herself. Lauren has always had a passion for learning, so she looks forward to helping people prepare for this important test!

Alex is currently a senior at Monroe Woodbury High School. Along with the Essential Prep Program, he also serves as the Communications Officer of the National Honor Society. He is an avid member of the Spanish Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, and the Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society, contributing hours towards both tutoring and community service events. Alex is also the Managing Editor of the Wire News, the school’s news publication where he writes game reviews. He enjoys competing at meets and tournaments as part of the Math Team and Chess Team. His great interest in music has also led him to serve as the President of the Wind Ensemble as well, coordinating events with the Music Department. Alex is currently certified in CPR and volunteers at St. Anthony Community Hospital in the Emergency Room over the summer where he works with nurses and doctors. Alex looks forward to working with and enhancing the experience of test-takers for the SAT so that they can accomplish their goals on this test.

Deborah Oke is a senior at Monroe-Woodbury High School. She is a member of the National Honor Society as well as the French Honor Society. She is currently Vice President of the LEAD mentors club, and going on to be an Editor-in-Chief during her last year of MWHS Shield. Last year, she helped to draft and submit an updated dress code for high school, as well as helping to found the new SRJSU club. She has been a part of the MW Cares Committee and hopes to continue to push for positive change within the high school and community. Deborah also plays on the Varsity Lacrosse team, and has been a member of the Symphonic Orchestra for the past 3 years. She looks forward to helping her peers enhance the skills needed for the SAT!

Derek is currently a senior at Monroe-Woodbury High School. He is the Secretary of Student Council, former Community Outreach Group Communicator of the Social & Racial Justice Student Union, along with being a member of the National Honors Society, French Honors Society, and Athletic Club. He also plays Varsity Basketball, AAU basketball outside of school, and runs Varsity Track & Field. Derek is very involved and active in his community as well. He has contributed over 100 hours of community service to the Sacred Heart Church food drive helping less fortunate families during the trying times of the Covid-19 pandemic, and over 100 hours of volunteer service in the Monroe-Woodbury Summer Enrichment Program that hosts workshops in a variety of subjects for young students to learn over the course of a summer. Derek looks forward to helping students master the skills needed for the SAT through the Essential Prep Program!

Ethan is a senior at Monroe Woodbury Highschool. He is a member of the National Honor Society and the Tri-M music honor society. Ethan is principal French Horn and Vice President in the Wind Ensemble and is very active in the music community. He also is an athlete on Varsity Track and Field. Ethan is an active volunteer in the Monroe volunteer EMS and teaches 4th and 5th graders at his local church so he has a lot of experience in leadership throughout the community. Jason is a senior at Monroe Woodbury high school this year. He is a member of the national honor society as well as the Spanish honor society. Jason has been a member of the wind ensemble since his freshman year and has been the principle of his section for 3 of those years. Jason has also been a part of the varsity bowling team since his freshman year. In his junior year, Jason was the president of his class. Jason served at the divisional president of his youth group for a year which includes Westchester, Rockland, and Orange County and is now a Vice President of the regional board encompassing all Jewish teens across metropolitan New York. Jason also loves scuba diving and basketball and can’t wait to work and grow with you all in Essential Prep!

Emily is currently the Board of Education Student Representative, the Vice President of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, and the Treasurer of the LEAD club. She is also a member of the National Honor Society, French Honor Society, STARS, and the Math Team. Emily has a strong passion and love for the arts. She has competed in many prestigious international and national piano competitions, leading her to perform in acclaimed concert halls such as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. She has even performed in her own solo recital at Steinway Recital Hall in NYC. Including the piano, Emily also plays the cello in the MWHS Chamber Orchestra. Emily also loves to stay engaged with her community. She formed a chamber ensemble group called "Perfect Harmony" that shares their love of music to senior centers in Woodbury. She is also an active member of the OCCA (Orange County Chinese Association). During COVID-19, Emily organized an APAHM panel discussion and a virtual mother's day concert with the OCCA Youth planning team. Emily is currently interning for New York State Senator James Skoufis on the campaigning side.
Website Coordinator / Tutor
Jai is currently a senior at Monroe-Woodbury High school. He is a member of National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Track and Field, Math Team, Model United Nations, and Future Business Leaders of America. He is currently the treasurer of the MW chapter of the National Honor Society. He plays percussion in the MWHS Wind Ensemble, and always enjoys participating in community activities. He is an active volunteer, and has spent his time over the summer doing social media and website work for a non-profit organization in California, that provides free meals to those who are in need. Jai is also a member of the Town of Woodbury Ambulance Corps. He also participates in a science research course in which he has been conducting his own research on concussions. Jai looks forward to being able to help people through this program!
Forms Coordinator / Tutor
Carleigh is a member of National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, the Girls’ Varsity Golf Team, Math Team, Interact Club, and STARS Club. She is currently the Vice President of the LEAD Mentoring Club and the Treasurer for Rhythm and Rhyme. Carleigh plays the cello in the MWHS Chamber Orchestra and is very involved in music in our district and community. She is a part of a volunteer group of musicians, called “Perfect Harmony,” which performs pieces for local senior citizens, and she volunteers at North Main Elementary as a music mentor for 4th and 5th grade orchestra students. Carleigh is a dancer, who is a member of the Senior Company at her dance studio. She also demonstrates for younger dancers. She has been a Girl Scout since Kindergarten, and is currently working towards her Gold Award. Carleigh just recently became a member of the Monroe Volunteer Ambulance Corps. She can’t wait to meet and work with all of you in this test prep program!
Email Coordinator / Tutor
Jason is a senior at Monroe-Woodbury High School. He is part of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, he is Vice President of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, he is a Varsity Baseball and club team player, and a member of FBLA and the Math Team. In addition, he is an All-State clarinetist and President of the school's Wind Ensemble. Jason is a very active musician in local and regional honors events, and spends a lot of time volunteering at local concerts, NYSSMA events, and with the Souza Scholarship fund as a stage crew member. He volunteers over the summer as a counselor in a local baseball camp, where he instructs and helps organize daily activities. In both the baseball and music communities, he has great experience working as a teacher and leader. Also, he has spent time volunteering at a local animal sanctuary called "Noah's Ark." Finally, he works as an associate at Banana Republic, which has given him lots of experience in personal encounters. He looks forward to helping with the program!
Communications Coordinator / Tutor
Brian is a senior at Monroe-Woodbury High School. During his time in high school, Brian has participated on the Math Team, Model United Nations, Varsity Track and Field and the Varsity Cross Country Team. He is currently captain of the Cross Country Team and is involved in organizing off-season practices. Brian is also a member of the National Honor Society and LEAD. Over the Summer, Brian was invited to Boy’s State, West Point’s Summer Leadership Experience and the Summer Seminar hosted by the Naval Academy. During the first several months on the Covid-19 pandemic, Brian worked closely with a Robotics Team in New Jersey to 3D print several hundred facemask accessories that were distributed to first responders throughout Bergen and Orange Counties. Brian can be found volunteering on the Woodbury Community Ambulance or making phone calls as an intern on State Senator James Skoufis’ Re-election Campaign.
Testing Coordinator / Tutor
Olivia is a senior at Monroe-Woodbury High School. Olivia is an active member of many clubs including Interact, Math Team, and the Science Club, of which she is the secretary. She also mentors freshmen at her school through the LEAD mentor club. Olivia loves to learn, as well as teach others when she can. She has volunteered for many years as a class aide at Sacred Heart Church. Over the summer, she can be found volunteering at Saint Paul Church in their summer day school for kids. Here, she works with kids ages 3-5 as they learn, grow, and play together in an encouraging and educational environment. Aside from teaching, Olivia enjoys being active in her school community. She is a member of the National Honor Society. She is also a percussionist in MWHS’ Wind Ensemble and enjoys its collaborative atmosphere. Olivia is excited to help fellow students improve on their SAT scores!
Attendance Coordinator / Tutor
Meghan is a senior at Monroe-Woodbury High School. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Varsity Swim and Dive Team, Varsity Golf Team, Math Team, Interact Club, STARS Club, and LEAD Mentoring Club. She is currently the Treasurer of the Spanish Honor Society. Meghan is heavily involved with her school and club diving teams, allowing her to medal at the NYSPHSAA Championships and hold a school record in the sport. She is planning to continue diving throughout her college career at Bucknell University. In addition, Meghan volunteers each week as an altar server at St. Patrick’s Parish where she assists during mass, gives direction to younger altar servers, and connects with her community members. She also volunteers every summer at St. Patrick’s Vacation Bible School as a counselor, teaching young children about their faith through engaging activities. She can’t wait to help this program and work with all of you!
Performance Coordinator / Tutor
Joshua is a senior at Monroe-Woodbury High School. He is the President of the Computer Club, a member of the Math Team, History Club, Kindness Committee, National Honor Society, and French National Honor Society. Josh enjoys Computer Science, and in addition to being the President of the Computer Club, he also participates in numerous programming competitions and side projects related to programming. During the summer of 2019, he worked as a software developer intern for a company based in New York City. He is a member of the Monroe Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Josh has a passion to tutor, and he tutors in numerous subjects in coordination with the National Honor Society as well as directly with teachers to tutor students who need extra help. He will be continuing his education at Cornell University for Computer Science. Josh is committed to helping everyone and will be working hard to give the tools necessary to succeed on the SAT.
Classroom Moderator / Tutor
Matthew is currently a senior at Monroe-Woodbury High School. He is an active member of the National Honor Society and the Math Team. He is also on the Cross Country Team, Ski Team, and Track Team. Matthew is very involved in music, participating in both the chamber orchestra as a violinist and the voice ensemble as a bass. One of Matthew's greatest passions is skiing. Not only is he on the school racing team, he also works at Mount Peter as a ski instructor, teaching people of all ages how to ski. Matthew looks forward to teaching his peers on improving their SAT scores!
