the assignment was to design 3D Printed pen holder
it was exciting to use Fusion to make my first design and discovering new tools
voronoi pattern
softwares fusion 360 to Model the holder and with the use of extra plug in Voronoi sketch generator
Fusion 360
Voronio sketch Generator
the process of the assignment was
first we need to practice in using Fusion in the 3D Modelling this would be done by making the midweek practice for the Fidget
Fidget
First part the base
Revolve is used to create this part
Creating sketch for the inner ball
Construct plan to sketch the upper part of the inner ball
Creating sketch for the inner ball
Creating sketch for the inner ball
For the ball we used revolve and for the upper part used extrude and join with the ball and cut for the parts in the cuboid
then we model the hook
for the arched part we need to construct offset plan from the base of the hook
last part is the hook connector
last part is the hook connector
extrude and cut are the used tools
last we create joints between parts
Second we need to search for some inspirations
I chose to make voronoi pattern pin holder and made another backup model in case this one didn't work
the problem was how to make voronoi in Fusion 360 -Making it manually is possible but needs extra time :'D -
with some google search there's a plug in that can help in making the patern in one step
voronoi
Modeling process
stating with simple rectangle
creat a copy
creat a copy
Loft to create the 3D part
Shell to create thickness
using voronoi sketch generator
make the settings for desired shape
the pattern
create intersection
final look
it needed to be scaled a little in prusa - this position time was ls than making it vertical!!!!-
The previous model wasn't accepted as we used extrusion only so i modelled another one
start with cross section sketch
revolve
we need to create 2 components for the same sketch
shell
create the second sketch
hide on components from the 2 copies
extrude intersect
show the hidden components
move 1 mm
export stl and slice
first we exported the G code file there was aproblen in mk2 so we re export the file to mk3 settings
first we preheated the machine to 215 to remove the previous color
then we logged the new color - I chose white-
last thing we hose the file from the SD card and then the printer will do its magic - as previewed in pictures
the file took 91 minutes to be printed
I had a problem with the models i made that all of them needed more than 90 minuted to be printed one of my peers suggested to scale it down -which wasn't the best solution because we can see the holder is small 40*40*50 mm- but it worked
also other suggested to try to make the inclined lines to be 30 degree to need less support but this is didn't work
overall I'm Grateful that I didn't suffer alone in the assignment :'D
The mistake is I started the assignment late which made me discover the obstacles late with no time to think about other solutions
Making 3D joints and the overall 3D modelling process will be used in the final project
also understanding how to make your model take less time was a challenge but a good practise
That Voronoi pattern almost has a plug in in every software :'D
