WELCOME BACK STUDENTS! 1st Day of School is August 22nd!
Life IS change. Sometimes, BIG changes that we may not know how to welcome into our lives or that we may reject vehemently. With change, our lives are affected. Our plans change and our world is turned upside down. We, humans, tend not to like change because it brings so much headache and anxiety with despair. We don’t know what to do with change and what we need to do to adapt. Understandably, this can make us extremely frustrated, irritable, sad, nervous, and extremely anxious. Suddenly, our routines disappeared: we can’t see our friends, we don’t go to our school, we don’t talk to our teachers, we don’t know what to do! What do we do?? That is a good question, right? So far, we know that we can’t do anything about the change that has already taken place in our lives. We don’t have control over it, but here a few thoughts for you:
Develop calm. Each day comes, and with it, new challenges, surprises, achievements and hurdles. But, with each day, there is good. Try hard to find it. Look around and find something you can be thankful for. I know it is there.
Look for solutions. Problem solving IS learned. It will give you the ability to advance and not get stuck on complaining, negative thinking or feelings of helplessness. What can you do to improve your situation? Can it be helping your family? Watch over your siblings? Cook dinner? Clean your room? Organize your time?
Let’s be responsible. The important question is: what can each of us do? What are our responsibilities? And, how are we going to achieve my goals and be responsible?Develop a plan. If the objective is to follow up with youronline classes, log in and participate. Do your homework. Ask questions and be active. Follow up with your work.
Work hard on accepting our new reality. It is what we are living right now, and we are looking for ways to make it better, improve and change on what wasn’t working. Feeling upset and fighting the fact that things have changed only makes you spend energy. Acceptance will give you a new outlook and will shift your thinking into addressing your difficulties instead of fighting them.
