Beginning English
Our Course Syllabus
Dear Students, welcome to our online class. I'm so happy to meet you. We are going to have a great time learning about each other, about English, and about technology.
This page is designed specifically to help you learn about our class and get connected to Canvas, our virtual classroom. Let's start by getting to know me a little bit. :)
Hello Everyone, I'm so happy to meet you. My name is Jessica Aggrey. I started my career as a teacher in 2011 when I moved to Quito, Ecuador to become an English teacher. I love teaching, especially teaching language, because it's fun! I get to meet wonderful people, hear amazing stories, and help my students engage with and use English.
I also am a language learner, so I can understand the challenges that we face on the journey to becoming fluent in a new language. However, the effort is worth the reward because as Charlemagne said, "To have another language is to possess a second soul."
Some of my hobbies are reading, gardening, and writing. I'm married, and we have one precious toddler son.
I believe that education has the power to change and transform lives. I teach English because I want to help you achieve your goals. I believe that learning a language can be an empowering and fun experience that can open the door to a new world; that was my experience when I learned Spanish, and I'm excited that I get to help you on your own journey to learn English, so you can confidently use it to excel on your academic and life journey.
This is our second level of English language development at Woodland Community College. This course is designed to help you improve your English.
Our class is fully online. There are no required weekly meetings for our class. Our class is flexible with your schedule.
Each week, you will complete a learning module with topics to study and activities for you to complete.
This webpage is the syllabus for our class. It will help you get started. This page is not our class. For our class, we will use Canvas. Canvas is a web-based learning management system. With Canvas you will be able to complete your weekly learning modules, submit homework, take quizzes, chat with your classmates, check your grades, and more.
As a student of the college, you have access to Canvas. You have to log into Canvas to access your courses. If you are new to Canvas, click on the button below to learn about Canvas and get signed in.
