ESE is more than a network. We are developing programs, resources, and community initiatives that turn the connections within our network into real-world opportunities. Some of these projects are already active. Others are still being developed. Each one starts with a question:
What could we build if we connected the people, resources, skills, and businesses that already exist within our communities?
Here’s what we’re working toward.
Neighborhood Connection Initiative
Reconnect neighbors by going door to door, learning what people need, discovering what resources already exist on the block, and connecting people to one another.
We’re looking for: Neighborhood representatives, volunteers, local businesses, resources, and residents who want to help strengthen their block.
Housing as a Foundation for Growth
Develop housing options that help people stabilize their lives while they work toward greater independence.
We’re looking for: Properties, landlords, housing partners, furniture, appliances, transportation, funding, mentors, and community resources
Learn a Trade. Build the Neighborhood.
Connect young men with contractors and skilled professionals to learn hands-on trades such as demolition, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and general construction.
The program would give participants practical experience while allowing the network to complete low-cost repairs and improvement projects for families and neighborhoods.
We’re looking for: Contractors, tradespeople, tools, materials, properties for training, mentors, funding, and young people ready to learn.
Develop a fund and support network for families who are struggling to cover funeral and memorial expenses, including obituaries, venues, burial costs, transportation, and other necessary services.
We’re looking for: Funeral homes, venues, printers, florists, transportation providers, donors, sponsors, and financial supporters.
Connecting People to Opportunity
Develop a network of reliable transportation resources that can help people get to work, school, appointments, housing, events, and other opportunities.
This can eventually include community vehicles, passenger vans, work vehicles, transportation partnerships, and the development of an ESE Sprinter van.
We’re looking for: Vehicles, drivers, mechanics, insurance partners, sponsors, vehicle donations, and transportation partners.
Sharing Meals. Strengthening Community.
Everybody Eats is built around the idea that food can do more than satisfy hunger. Sharing meals can bring people together, provide relief during difficult times, and strengthen the relationships that make a community resilient.
We’re looking for: Cooks, chefs, home cooks where appropriate, restaurants, caterers, grocery stores, food donations, kitchen access, food preparation supplies, meal containers, volunteers, delivery drivers, sponsors, and financial support for ingredients and meal distribution.
Some projects are already moving. Some are partnerships we’re developing.
Some are ideas waiting for the right people, resources, and opportunities to come together.
If you have a skill, business, resource, property, vehicle, connection, idea, time, or funding, there’s a place for you in the work.
