Hailing from the very streets we practice on, Marc-André LeBlanc is a passionate teacher with an unmatched love of the sport of fencing. His steadiness and dedication since his return to Moncton in 2022 has propelled its ranks to a level the club hasn't seen in an age. As the Head Coach, Marc-André is hard working, highly organized and a practical leader who's upbeat attitude brings a level of excitement and fun to each class. If you ever found yourself on the other end of a piste with Marc André, it would be like fencing a lion. Steady and unyielding, his style of fencing matches his style of teaching. You would lose the match terribly and be grateful for it. Near perfect. A real Athos.
Marc-André coaches épée at all levels and is at the club every night. He also leads the Skills and High Performance classes throughout the week.

Born a stone's throw away from Moncton, Ryan Downey brings a level of class and elegance to the club. A foilist at heart, he is easygoing, spontaneous and won't hesitate to turn a lesson on its heels to keep the students guessing. His relaxed attitude keeps him patient with students of all levels and his passion for the sport's classic history shines through. If you find yourself lucky to be coached by Ryan from the receiving end of a sword, you will recognize it as fencing a fox. Witty, clever and quick, he would have won the match before you ever noticed. A real Aramis.
Ryan is lead coach for La Résistance's foil program. He teaches on Tuesdays.

Rounding out the team of talented coaches is none other than Mathieu Paquet. An epeeist through and through, his quiet disposition and fierce love of the sport is paralleled by his speed and size. It's not uncommon to be pulled aside by this gentle giant to have a quick chat on how something you are doing can be done better, and more importantly, why. His coaching clearly comes from the heart and it's not hard to see why so many look up to him. Mathieu will meet a student where they are at and push them to be a little better. Facing off with Mathieu is both terrifying and educational. His size and speed doesn't seem to match and it can only be described as like fencing a bear. You will have to decide whether to take the hit, or be pushed off the piste.A true Porthos.
Mathieu teaches the Recreational Youth classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and runs the League on Thursdays.

Adding to the gallery of coaches is none other than Marc Landry. As a veteran fencer, he is motivated by one thing. To give back to a sport that has given so much to him. Marc's optimism and sense of play is paired with his gentle yet determined drive for improvement.
Students will remember him as the one who is having the most fun out of everyone in class while departing with an overwhelming sense of inspiration.
If you find yourself feeling brave enough to challenge Marc in a duel, you would be tripping over your feet long after he scored a point. Lightning fast and seemingly born to fence, you would think you were facing a leopard.(big cats are most known for being playful hunters)
Marc is the glue that binds the team together. An unstoppable team that is better because of the other; all for one, and one for all, as one might say. An unequivocal D'artagnan.
