My experience at ECS Scotland School has been really positive. In my opinion, I chose the most adequate school. It is a familiar business run by a mother and her two daughters. Every detail in the school, classrooms, library, tea-room, wall panels, … is arranged to learn English. Groups are formed by four or five adult students. This is positive for better interaction and easy communication. Teachers are experienced and qualified with a neutral English spoken accent and a cosmopolitan knowledge on English as a language used all over the world.
I focused my learning in the practise and the uses of English language. The General Course of English consisted on 20 hour classes divided in two blocks. The first part was a more formal studying and discussion about a general issue and the second was a practical class using games, videos, songs, …
The specific classes about Mathematics vocabulary and practice allowed me to confirm or to modify different aspects of my own teaching job as a Maths teacher. Generally, I am satisfied with the way I have been working up to this moment, however, I firmly believe that English is perfectly adapted to the Maths teaching due to the idiomatic differences between both languages are minimal.
Personally, I have realised that my English level is minor than I considered before doing the course. There are idiomatic skills that I have to improve and I have enough material to do it. It is a personal target I must to assume.
I really appreciate the EU Erasmus+ programs persons responsible for its organisation and development. I firmly believe it is a wonderful way to encourage the union and knowledge between the EU peoples. Although, less bureaucracy would be advisable.
