Agrupamento de Escolas Pinheiro e Rosa (AEPROSA) is an integrated group of public schools composed by 9 schools : A secondary school, 2 General Basic Schools (5th to the 9th grades), 6 Primary Basic Schools( 1st to the 4th grades), including preschools. The headquarter of this School Grouping is based on the Secondary School Pinheiro e Rosa, in Faro. It is the largest school grouping in the municipality of Faro, serving a rural and urban population, with students from very divergent socioeconomic strata (predominance of the middle stratum). Our schools attend 2655 students from 4 to 18/19 years old and work 263 teachers and 142 staff members. There is a volunteer teacher(non-paid staff) as a European projects adviser. It has a huge diversity of educational programs, not only in the regular national system and VET, but also in alternative curricula with vocational and professional education, for those who have difficulties in integrating the regular educational system, thus avoiding early school leaving. We have a large number of students coming from several immigrant communities and ethnicities. It has units for students with Special Education Needs (SEN), with multi-disability and autism, where specific methodologies are applied.
AEPROSA provides all the conditions not only for the success of regular students, but also ensures the flexibility of organizing instruments for curriculum management aimed at students who have repeated school failure or integration problems. It is the home to the district head office of the ICT Resources Centre for Special Education. Its main objectives are based on the motto of the Educational Project "Awakening dreams, achieving goals, building the future“: motivation for success, increasing the quality of success, reducing the rate of dropout and inclusion. The School Grouping benefits from a highly motivated group of teachers and an active and interested School Board that manage the development of pedagogical intervention projects, at regional, national and European levels.
The participation in this project reflects the strategic importance of developing collaborative activities with other European partners, affirming AEPROSA as an innovative, future-oriented and European school.
The school is a member of UNESCO Associated School Project Network and it is also considered a National Healthy School of High Level. It wants together with European partners in support of International dialogue, sustainable development and quality education in practice, to build a better future for everyone.
AEPROSA is characterised by being a plural space in a cultural point of view in which the backgrounds, motivations, interests and students' learning capabilities are different. With the participation in this project, it aims to become a beacon school through the students’ success and the quality of this success and their academic, professional and citizenship skills and performance and reduce the early dropout and therefore to reach all the European strategies for education.
