Hunderupskolen, situated in central Odense, serves 550 students from preschool to grade 9. The staff includes 35 teachers, 3 administrators, 8 pedagogical staff, and 1 technical service member. Recognized for its high standards, the schoolcultivates an enriched learning environment for all pupils. Inclusion, well-being and delight amongst all are very important to every day life in school. Many students' parents have advanced degrees and actively collaborate with the school. The diverse faculty encourages both professional and social collaboration. Despite being a newer institution, Hunderupskolen has meaningful traditions that promote unity and understanding. Participation in its programs expands students' perspectives on identity and emphasizes the value of collaboration amidst diversity.
For Hunderupskolen it is a core value that all children are accepted and included for who they are! It's part of the school motto. As many other schools, Hunderupskolen is working hard to make sure that all children are included. Dyslexia is something many pupils struggle with, but we try to see it as a natural part of life and that it adds quality to the diversity, that we so much want to embrace and present to the pupils, so they get a glimpse of the real society they soon enough will be a part of. The school want to represent diversity and with that, introduce and wake up the interest in learning about different
cultures within Europe. We believe that learning about other cultures will enable the pupils to lay down prejucice and instead be open-minded towards new ideas for living a good and full life.
Hunderupskolen is an average public school. The pupils come from different neighbourhoods and have different backgrounds, and in general they all come from well-established homes. We have pupils with different religions, different family patterns and different approaches to life in school. So the participants will represent different layers of the Danish society socially and economically. The participants will be between 13 - 15 years old. It is important for the school to participate in projects like this, because it gives the participants a real and genuine perspective on life and especially on their own way of living.
