The English for Professional Success (EPS) Program delivers courses in academic and professional English to first semester international students, just like you. We are excited to have you as our student this semester, and we look forward to working with each and every one of you to improve your acquired experience as a student in higher education.
Our EPS Program and EPS courses are specifically designed to help you improve your English writing and speaking skills for your academic career at FDU and for your future professional life. This site has consolidated information that you have likely already received, such as:
The Academic Support Section includes the Academic Support Calendar, common questions about Academic Support, and the time-tracking reports of completed time for all students, listed by ID number.
To receive a passing grade in your EPS course(s), you must meet the following requirements:
The passing average grade for each EPS course are listed below. You must receive the appropriate passing grade for each EPS course you are registered in to exit the EPS program.
Minimum Passing
EPS Course | Letter Grade Average Grade
________________________________________________________________
EPS 1008+1018 (PUP) → C or higher | 73 or higher |
EPS 5008+1018 (PMP) → C or higher | 73 or higher |
EPS 1109+1119 (UG) → B or higher | 82 or higher |
EPS 5109+5119 (GR) → B or higher | 82 or higher |
Exiting your EPS courses requires more than meeting the minimums above. The following actions can have negative consequences on your performance in the EPS Program:
Poor or erratic attendance
(e.g. missing class entirely, or not attending your classes for fully scheduled time)
Poor responsiveness to instructor and program communications, and/or group work communications
(e.g. not frequently answering FDU email when required, and/or answering FDU email with limited clarity, not checking your course's WebCampus)
Incomplete, missing, and/or plagiarized assignments
(e.g. downloading or purchasing a paper from any source, getting assignment help from friends or family, not submitting work)
Any other behaviors that impede your ability to participate fully in course work
Any and all of the above can have a significant impact on your grades in your EPS courses, so if you are having trouble with any of these, you must email your Professor so that they can help you or direct you to assistance.
As an EPS Student, you are required to have regular and frequent access to: 1. your FDU email Address (also called your FDU NetID) and 2. your Course WebCampus. Below are resources for both.
Your FDU email Address is your login credential for the essential FDU services: your FDU email account, WebCampus [sometimes also called "Blackboard"], and WebAdvisor.
You must make sure to remember your username and password so that you can access these required, essential services.
Make sure that you frequently check your FDU email (at least 2x a day, even on non-class days) to ensure that you are caught up with any and all items for your classes, and the EPS Office. Your FDU email is the primary channel for all FDU related matters.
Outside of class time, your Professor will primarily communicate with you and your classmates via email (possibly in addition to other arrangements they may make on an individual basis). Sometimes, your FDU email will receive updates or announcements from your Course Webcampus, which should then guide how and what you should check on your Course WebCampus.
FDU utilizes Microsoft Outlook as its email client, and you have many options and ways to check your email. Choose the method that works best for you (though loading email on a personal computer will ensure that message formatting and attachments are visible).

Your Course WebCampus (sometimes called "Blackboard,") is the center of all activity for your EPS Courses, and your other courses at FDU. Your EPS Course WebCampus is where you will:
Access Online Class via Zoom (if applicable)
Complete Online Discussions
Read and review Assignments
Submit Assignments
Receive and view your Grades
and much more. Similar to your email, make sure to frequently check your Course WebCampus (at least 1x a day) for any announcements or updates from your Professor.
Each EPS course has its own WebCampus, so make sure that you are responding and submitting assignments for the right course and section.

If you have any additional questions, please contact the EPS Program Associate Director, Ms. DesFosses, desfoss1@fdu.edu via your FDU student email.
Each EPS student is assigned an Academic Support Requirement, which is additional tutoring and workshop time that you must complete outside of class time.
To pass your EPS course, you must complete your Academic Support Requirement by the published deadline. Find your Academic Support Requirement here.
