Your vote is pure, not influenced by party.
Your thinking stays pure, not "for the sake of the party".
You remain untethered to a party candidate who becomes foul.
What does being independent mean?
Independent does not mean "weak". It is not necessarily moderate. Independents can be very forceful. We have a full array of issues from which to choose. So, Independent does not mean "Blue Dog" Democrat. It does not mean RINO. It need not mean compromising.
The only candidates capable of making SIGNIFCANT CHANGE, are the INDEPENDENTS.
