It was a humbling experience for me to speak in my recent TEDx #DunLaoghaire talk so honestly about my time with our family businesses, my work in #DunLaoghaireTown on reinventing town centres and what I had found out about myself since my mother's death from Motor Neurone Disease.
Throughout primary school I struggled with dyslexia (my dad used to remind me that as a four year old I spelt Cat as Tac), dyscalculia and, something I only discovered a couple of years ago amongst my mother's papers after her passing (as I outlined in my TEDx Talk) I had been diagnosed as a child with Asperger's Syndrome without ever being told.
I shared my story in the hope of encouraging others that may have similar challenges.
I decided to participate in this awareness raising initiative and talk about some of the challenges I dealt with growing up, I hope this might be a help to others Diversity Ireland
