Module 1
Engaging students through entrepreneurship education
Engaging students through entrepreneurship education
An interesting video online about it. What is entrepreneurship?
Here are some key ideas for what it is meant by using this term
For educators this implies that we need to have new and innovative Curricula.
Students need to learn how to be responsible and they can have self-initiative
I watched a video about a young girl who has a different mind-set: The entrepreneurial mindset: from kid to entrepreneur | Kim Cope | TEDxGastownWomen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JiGJttyiqFs
Key Ideas from this video: curiosity and failure are important for anyone who has to work on something. We need to think outside the box.
The presenter claims that CREATIVITY, RISK-TAKING are qualities which children have and we need to FOSTER THESE QUALITIES!
DISCUSSING ONLINE AND THINKING ABOUT THE IDEAS EXPRESSED IN THE VIDEO:
What is the state of entrepreneurial education in your country/region/school?
My ideas and what I know about Entrepreneurship Education in Italy
We have introduced ASL = ALTERNANZA SCUOLA LAVORO in our schools and students aged 16-19 need to have some working experience outside school.
I feel that we do need to implement the activities and sometimes students are not engaged as what they are doing is not related to their studies. It needs bettering and also educators should be more involved. Maybe this is just the beginning.
Identifying problems, needs, and coming up with creative solutions for the benefit of others.
We do need to foster analytical and creative minds to empower our students.Teaching Ideas

It is not easy to bring the outside world into the classroom but we do need to.
First of all, we should try to work on PBL and tasks which require our students' working online and in class while they are making discoveries.
The role of the teacher should be the one of a helper while the students can learn together by focussing on learning about new topics, dealing with problems about a specific topic and by trying to find a solution.
I teach English and my role should be to monitor their work while they are working.
Basically we should start with a problem and devolop ideas and solutions. It might be a simple questions like how can we better our school?
What should we do? What strategies would you need to work on the issue? Team work, PBL and more meaningful tasks need to be introduced at school so that our learners can really learn better and become ACTIVE LEARNERS.
This is the main idea about what we should try to support at school: learning about alternative ideas, re-thinking about we have done or what we should do. There might be different ways to approach the same topic. A Revolution for some educators? Maybe, but we do need to be able to think differently.
I have always liked to be creative and to work on ideas so I cannot but agree with what has been said in the video. I am also a person who loves ideas expressed by Ken Robinson. Education should be different and based on creativity.
