Introduction
Cultural heritage, the collective legacy of the inhabitants of a community, shapes the identity of a group by reclaiming its past meanings. Regardless of whether this heritage is material or immaterial, the importance of its preservation is reflected in the transmission of our ancestors' knowledge to future generations. In this regard, we recognize the significance of its preservation for the sociocultural evolution of societies.
Specifically considering built historical heritage or architectural heritage, there is much to be discussed and implemented to ensure its preservation. This includes the development and the application of heritage education practices that foster reflections and perspectives for the conservation of immovable property. It also requires the formulation of public policies and the development and application of technologies for heritage management, which enable the implementation of preservation practices.
With great effort and joy, ENPAC (Encontro do Patrimônio Construído - Meeting on Built Heritage) has been organized since 2020 with the main goal of providing a space for acquiring new knowledge and exchanging experiences in the area of preservation and rehabilitation of built historical heritage. This year, in its 5th edition, ENPAC will be proudly associated with the 1st APTI LACC Conference.
Invited speakers, both Brazilian and international, with their practical experiences and successful research developments, will provide discussions and reflections that will significantly contribute to the maintenance of built heritage, both in urban and rural landscapes, across the globe.
As part of the Extension Project on Built Heritage, ENPAC this year will be organized by Professors Gláucia Nolasco and Cynara Fiedler. The organizing team for the 1st APTI LAC Conference includes some members of the Latin America and Caribbean Chapter (LACC) of the Association for Preservation Technology International (APTI), namely Gláucia Nolasco de Almeida Mello, Juan Ricardo Alarcón Martínez, Juliana Prestes Ribeiro Faria, Renata Campiotto e Cynara Fiedler Bremer.
In this edition, academic papers related to the thematic tracks established for the conference will be selected for presentation during the event. Information for authors can be found on the Authors page.
We look forward to your presence!
