Our survey consisted of 41 questions relating to women’s oppression. The survey was posted in the Qualtrics survey database for 12 days. The survey was not limited to students and staff at CCGA. We thought it would be essential to use social media platforms to get a broader geographical response. We used Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter. The study received 149 responses. The only requirement to take our survey was to be at least 18 years old and a U.S. resident. Our survey was intended to reflect on women’s oppression within different groups of study. We used peer-reviewed sources to conduct the secondary research that led us to our survey questions.
We received 149 responses, the vast majority being female (131-female, 16-male). 95.21% of participants were not CCGA students. 28.57% of participants ranged in age from 35-44, 21.09% ranged in age from 45-54, 20.41% ranged in age 18-24, 15.65% ranged in age 25-34, 6.12% ranged in age 55-64, 4.76% ranged in age 65-74, while only five people were age 75 and over.
The age range of our respondents amazed us. We posted our survey on social media, which is where we got the most response from our survey. The typical age range of social media users is 18-24. However, the majority of the respondents were in the age range of 35-44. This breaks the stereotype that only younger generations use social media.
