Nearly every year there is the debatable question that looms over our country on whether or not the death penalty should continue and should it be applicable to this person? In this podcast, I analyze an article written by Phillip Holloway called, "Time to Question Sanity of Death Penalty" that I found through CNN. In this article, Holloway uses his knowledge and experience as a person who has worked very closely with the system and issue to break down the very practical reasons as to why it should be abolished. Many people stand with the idea, for they are under the impression it is more cost efficient, but Holloway depicts how it is costing the system millions more. Not only are the financial aspects getting debunked, but he dives in to unveil the truths and statistics behind the death penalty and take a step towards educating America. More than four percent of people killed in the United States were later proven innocent. Inmates understand the privilege to be there, and try to take advantage of the system. Victims' families are being forced into the courtroom on average six times longer than if the defendant was doing life without parole. The article strives to answer every question, but leaves one remaining: Why is the death penalty still continuing today?
