My goal is to help you do well in this course. If you experience any challenges in or outside our course, please let me know so that we can work together to resolve them.
To keep track of your grade in this course, click on the “Grades” tab in Canvas. I will do my best to keep grades current and accurate. If you ever have questions about your grade, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Your final grade for the course will be determined through the following:
Freewrites (10%) Most of our modules begin with a freewrite prompt connected to the learning objectives of that module. These assignments help to develop your literacy and your ability to capture your thinking in written composition. These assignments will be graded on a 5/3/0 scale based on word count, content, and clarity.
Discussion Posts (20%) You will post informal, constructive writings to Canvas throughout the semester. These posts encourage you to think critically about the assigned course topics and to develop skills connected to the course learning outcomes. These assignments will be graded on a 5/3/0 scale based on word count, content, and clarity.
Writing Project Drafts (20%) You will complete three writing project drafts throughout the semester. These project drafts will challenge you to apply the skills covered within the course. Each project will be unique in its focus, and you should plan to adjust your typical writing strategies while collaborating with your peers and with me. These assignments will receive full credit for completion and formative feedback in preparation for the portfolio.
Portfolio (50%) You will turn in a portfolio that includes a cover letter and revisions of two writing project drafts. The course portfolio highlights your effort and learning throughout the course. This is the primary method through which you will demonstrate your fulfillment of the course learning outcomes and your preparedness to move on to the next stages of academic work.
