DUE DATE: End of Week 4
10 pts. | see Google Classroom for additional information, resources, & official due dates
For this activity -- Composition Project #2 -- you and your classmates will be (re)building the section of our syllabus called, “Student Resources.” Working in small groups, the goal here is to develop a curated list of resources in and around COD that would be beneficial and/or informative for future first-year COD students. This list will be delivered to my first-year students (and included on my syllabi) starting next semester.
You should work together to identify pertinent campus resources, while providing a short but descriptive summary of their services (including contact info). Your prose should be clear and simple, while taking advantage of hyperlinks.
Working from the shared Google Doc posted in Classroom, this project will require research, teamwork, and collaboration. It is expected that you leave our actual classroom in order to research campus resources, while also talking to fellow COD students in order to determine what campus services are most useful to first-year COD student (you should also be on the lookout for services which may not be obvious or advertised to new first-year students).
The final version of this will be due along with MS#2 at the end of week 4. Your submission in Classroom must include a short, 1-2 paragraph written reflection which explains what your individual contributions were to your group, and what your group's contributions were to our shared doc. Think about using this reflection to persuade me that your contributions were thorough and beneficial to the audience for whom it is intended.
Evaluation Criteria:
Do you and your fellow group members make significant contributions to the shared Google Doc?
Is your prose clear, clean, and descriptive? Do your writeups provide a brief but thorough summary of the services offered by that particular campus resource?
Do you participate in the peer review, and does your prose undergo appropriate, effective changes before submitting for final review?
Does your reflection clearly articulate your own contributions -- both to your group and the whole class -- while also providing evidence of engagement in writing as a process, and audience awareness?
