As a part of this English Composition I course have been able to recognize and put into practice my own writing style and processes. Needing to submit projects at multiple stages forced me to take more time on each project. I was also able to focus more on each submitting it at a higher level, as opposed to only putting effort into a final project. The use of peer review on projects helped me to receive direct feedback to change my writing for the better.
In my high school education, I didn’t have much opportunity to perfect my rhetoric analyzing and composing skills. Project 2 helped me to grow my own rhetorical analysis skills, not only in the analysis of the article, but also having to find an article without outside help that I could do justice analyzing. Project 3 helped to expand my rhetoric composition skills. I did much of the design work in that project allowing me to experiment and receive feedback from the group to determine the best way to communicate the message we wanted to send to our audience.
Before this course I also hadn’t done much writing with the use of outside sources, along with proper citation and referencing. This course helped to demystify some of my misconceptions around using outside sources. I didn’t do it perfectly every time, but the practice in the weekly discussion threads will help me move forward in my academic and writing career.
As I look back at this course, I appreciate how far I have come. In my previous year of schooling, my classes didn't require me to write any papers. Because of this class I was able to create 5 completely different projects that put into practice rhetoric skills. I believe I was successful at practicing multi-modal composition and proud of the work I’ve done.
