Compared to Singlish or Taglish, Kongish (or some researchers called as Hong Kong English) is a relatively new term and type of language. Consequently, few researchers have addressed the issue of Kongish. In other words, the issues related to the stereotypical image of Kongish users and the possible discrimination against them in the social media discourse have yet to be explored.
Therefore, this literature review aims to summarise and shed light on the key findings and theoretical concepts that have been proposed and examined in some of the relevant, previous research. In addition, we will try to apply some of the relevant theories and concepts to the current studies, thereby explaining our research questions and filling in research gap in the study of Kongish.
