Northwest Chemical Engineering Design Project Year
The winners of each award will be decided by a subcommittee appointed by the North West Members Group, and those shortlisted will be advised in advance of the Annual Awards Dinner.

The Andrew Medd - Young Mechanical Engineer of the Year Award
What is the award for?
The North Western Young Member Panel’s ”Andrew Medd Award” is an opportunity to recognise and award a young mechanical engineer who is undertaking professional education and training leading to, or has recently achieved, professional registration with the IMechE (within the past 10 years). The nominee should have made a most excellent contribution as an engineer, as a leader, and/or through community involvement and have set a good example of an engineer working towards the IMechE vision of:
‘Improving the world through engineering’
Setting the agenda
Developing professional engineers
Inspiring the next generation
Criteria for nomination
Development of his/her career as an engineer
Demonstrated excellence in an engineering project or activity
Contribution to community or other activities outside employment
Peer and other recognition
Demonstration of high standards of ethical and personal behaviour
Demonstration of commitment to the IMechE Vision
North West Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I) Trailblazers of the Year Award
What is the award for?
This award is open to any organisation, group or individual that has pioneered a new initiative to support, advocate, champion or advance Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (ED&I) in engineering (Chemical or Mechanical) throughout the previous year.
Judges will be looking particularly at how the initiative was devised, developed, and promoted, as well as how it contributes towards the attraction, development, or support of under-represented groups within the engineering (Chemical or Mechanical) industry.
This award can be nominated by individuals, employers, or any other interested parties.
