LET'S BE "REAL" in EHS

We aim for "the real thing" in everything we do at Engaru High School. Learning activities that focus on "exploration", club activities to "pursue" goals, and school events that "express" the Engaru School spirit. All of these activities are packed with substance.

The school is also well-equipped with facilities and equipment to support these activities. This year, with the support of the town of Engaru, we will continue our ICT education using the latest digital content. We will also renew our school uniform on the occasion of our 80th anniversary. We hope that you will experience many "real things" at Engaru High School to help you realize your goals.

CULTURE

School Motto

Full-time School: 文武両道 (Bunbu Ryodo)

Literally speaking, it means both the literary and martial arts. It is intended that the literary (studies) and martial arts (sports) should be equally combined.

Night School: 克己 (Kokki)

It means self-control. It shows that you should keep learning.

The design depicts the flower of the Engaru peppermint, a specialty of Engaru, and the leaves of the oak tree according to a passage in the Analects of Confucius: "The year is cold, and then you know that the pine and oak tree will wither and fall.

CLUB ACTIVITIES

BUNBU RYODO

Under our school motto Bunbu Ryodo, we focus not only on studies but also on club activities. To learn more about each club, you can find all the clubs in the clubs section of this site.

Free Facility Use

All facilities in Engaru town are exempt from fees for Engaru High School club activities! For example, there is the Engaru Metro Plaza, Engaru Baseball Stadium, Climbing Wall, Ball Game Field, etc.

Utilizing Club Activities For Your Future School / Job

There are some highly specialized classes for Rugby, Baseball, and Brass Band students available for all 3 years. You will choose one class to take from "Logical Expression I" (English), "Sports II" (Rugby & Baseball), and "Performance Studies" (Brass Band).

Fulfilling Dormitory Life & Subsidies for Commuting

There are 6 dormitories in total in the town including a girls-only dormitory!

Also, You can receive a subsidy if you're not from Engaru town, Yubetsu town or Saroma town. If you go to school from a dormitory, the subsidy is 1/2 of the monthly fee for the dormitory, up to 30,000 yen. If you use a commuter pass, the subsidy is 1/2 of the pass fee, up to 10,000 yen. If you go to school by private car, the subsidy will be 5,000 yen. Learn More

Special Advanced Class (Homeroom) and Courses

The school offers a university preparatory class and after-school opportunities where students can focus on studying. Also, "S-class" Courses are available to help students pass the entrance exam for difficult-to-enter universities! 106 students have entered public universities in the past 5 years (as of 2022).

Engaru Todai Juku

The Engaru Todai Juku was first held in 2022, the school invites some active students and teachers from Tokyo University to come and talk with us. It is free to participate in the talk and study!

Subsidies for Study Sapuri

Thanks to Engaru Town, you will be able to get a discount for Study Sapuri.

Support for Recommendation Exams, Public Work and Employment

The after-school courses also supports students who want to go to nursing and medical university through the recommendation exams or to work as a public worker or a civil employee. For example, the school offers essay courses and public worker courses.
