Opioids

Opioids are a type of painkiller that are either made from poppy seeds or they can be made synthetically. Heroine is a very common opioid but so are prescription pain medications such as Percocet, OxyContin or Vicodin. These prescription pain medications can be responsible for leading an individual to do harsher drugs. This is because opioids are very addictive and the brain and body develop a high tolerance to them very quickly. This cause individuals to seek stronger drugs in order to keep up with their body's addiction. Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is 50x stronger than heroin and 100x stronger than morphine. Fentanyl is one of the drugs thats becoming big right now in the United States. In 2020, about 84% of fatal overdoses involved the use of fentanyl in teenagers in the U.S.
