It is by no means a definitive or all comprehensive guide/resource. It is only meant to exist as a form of historical documentation gathering the known existence of women and their connection to the creation of the comic book industry.
Use of Public Information
All images and information are public and have been ascertained in this manner (unless a image or specific information was sent via email by the woman professional to the webmaster as a personal request to update their profile picture or pertinent information). The women on this online database compilation have been contacted to the best of the ability of the webmaster. Those that have not been contacted have no means to be (with the exception of Mangaka/Japanese comic book artists and any professional who has been deceased since the site's structure as of October-November 2025). There is no structure or order to who will be listed or who will not. It is only done so by the immediate knowledge of their existence, and then so alphabetically. The Encyclopedia is meant to be open to all and exclusive to none. The only two criteria that must be met are they must be a woman and must have some sort of connection to cartooning or comics (no matter how remote or minute). All information is formulaic to the understanding of the woman professional's career highlights and contributions. It is limited to this detail. Nothing that would be considered beyond public information that could compromise that individual's free rights to privacy is done and is strictly prohibited. Such data shall be limited to full name, year of birth (and death, if applicable), official website (if applicable) and image of the individual. The image shall be black and white (or contrasted to the best of the ability of that image) to allow uniformity to the site's overall view. Failing not being able to find a public image of the professional, a pre-selected stock image will be used in it's place. Any singular person may contact the webmaster here (leonardbonnano@gmail.com) to request a listing be removed if it is found to be offensive or disrespect to the site's meaning. For the purpose of protecting an individual's right to privacy, no social media links will be on any listing.
Image of the Woman Professional
All images of any woman listed on the Encyclopedia of Women in Comics (www.encyclopediaofwomenincomics.com) are the rightful possession of the name of the woman it is attached to (Everything in the listing belongs to them). These images, in no way, shape or form, are to be used anywhere else without the expressed permission of the person of said individual. Their profile photo or picture is identified as their own property and misuse by any other individual is considered a violation to that woman's privacy rights. Any image that is unavailable online, publically, will be considered the woman professional's automatic expression to her right of privacy. Such right will be respected and that private right takes place as if it were her own personal image. A prerendered stock image will take the place of the profile picture/image immediately at the creation of the listing and will remain unless the woman professional requests to have her image replaced with one of her own. Images must otherwise be relative to the image of the artist, even if it is a personal self-portrait, sketch or drawing. Symbols or cartoon images of otherwise are not allowed.
