Digital space

The digital space accompanying ENCODS2018 consists of a wiki (this page itself is part of the wiki) and a Slack work space.

Quick start

Getting on board will take you about 30-45 mins. Please take this time and consider the digital space as an integral part of your ENCODS2018 conference.

1. Get editing access to the wiki and create your own profile.
2. Join the Slack work space and start to chat with your ENCODS fellows.

How to use the Wiki

A short collection of ideas, how you could use the wiki. Note that this wiki is totally open, you can edit every page! So feel free to add more ideas here.

Before the conference:

• get to know fellow participants, lecturers and organisers in People
• find other researchers or activities directly related to your interests by a full text search through the wiki (click the magnifying glass in the upper right corner), for examples see this search results for "ion channels", "theatre" or "vision"
• check out the conference schedule and organize additional activities during the conference
• find detailed information about the conference

During the conference:

• document lectures and student talks
• collect discussions and insights from the unconference
• share photos

After the conference:

• look up information on lectures or talks you were interested in
• contact people you got to know
• inspiration for the next ENCODS conference

How to use Slack

Slack is a communication app which allows direct messaging and chats in channels. Use Slack to

Get in contact with fellow participants

• search the profiles for someone interesting, ping them on Slack and fix a discussion slot during the conference
• prepare a reading group by sending around a paper you would like to discuss
• find a travel buddy
