North Carolina Wesleyan University, Rocky Mount, NC, founded in 1956, is an independent, liberal arts college affiliated with The United Methodist Church. Wesleyan enrolls approximately  1,000 students on the Rocky Mount campus and a little over 1,000 adult students at its 9 Adult Degree Program locations in Brunswick, Goldsboro, Greenville, Manteo, Raleigh-Durham, Rocky Mount, Washington, Whiteville, and Wilmington. NC Wesleyan is designated as a Minority Serving Institution (MSI) and its student body is one of the three most diverse in the South, according to U.S. News & World Report. 

Wesleyan offers Bachelor of Arts degrees in Chemistry, Criminal Justice, English, Entertainment/Theatre, History, Mathematics, Political Science, Pre-Law, Psychology, Religious Studies, and Sociology. Bachelor of Science degrees are offered in Accounting, Biology, Business Administration (Concentration in Entrepreneurship), Chemistry, Computer Information Systems, Educational Studies, Elementary Education, Environmental Science, Exercise Science, Logistics & Supply Chain Management, Marketing, Mathematics, Middle Grades Education, Organizational Administration, Special Education. Students may prepare for Secondary Education certification in Biology, English, History, Mathematics, and Social Science.
