Duncan Courtney
EMRI Project Manager
Duncan has joined RDaSH as the EMRI Project Manager. He previously worked in CRN Yorkshire and Humber as Project Management lead, having joined the CRN in 2012. Prior experience included a clinical and research governance background (and before that, nursing) in mental health. During his 12 years with the CRN, he managed research governance for the region before heading up the Project Management team. In this role, he was responsible for initiating and monitoring the CRN’s programme of strategic and other innovative projects.
Since 2021, Duncan has had the privilege of working with the pioneering Ethnic Minorities Research Inclusion group (EMRI), developing and delivering innovative and inclusive strategies to increase opportunities for people from diverse communities to become involved in health and care research.
EMRI remains a Network of research staff and members of the public from across the Yorkshire and Humber region, working alongside the Clinical Research Network Yorkshire and Humber, with a shared interest in increasing levels of participation in health research within Ethnic Minority communities throughout Yorkshire and Humber.
We believe that for health and care research to be effective, we need representation from all communities, in all different types of research, so we know that if something works, it works for everyone.
