CREATING Learning CULTURES TO ENERGISE & EMPOWER

Nyree Wilson - Learning Specialist
My most powerful professional learning experiences have involved open-hearted sharing, collegiate camaraderie, and a shared commitment to the social good at the core of our work as educators.
This site has provided me with a space to share effective evidence based strategies, ways of thinking, and resources to support high quality teaching and learning. This project began during the pandemic lockdowns of 2020, as my colleagues and I undertook the largest en-mass professional learning exercise - adapting rapidly to remote teaching and learning.
During this time in my role as a Learning Specialist, I provided professional learning to support our adaptive response to online learning - from here, the 'Teacher Toolbox' began. It has since evolved and now houses strategies to facilitate Social and Emotional Learning, Differentiation, Literacy, Assessment, Feedback, Lesson Structures, Collaboration, Agency and Wellbeing.
In 2020 I had also completed a Masters of Instructional Leadership which had provoked a deep reflection on my practice, my identity as an educator, and provided space to undertake an investigation into effective organisational learning culture and professional learning.
It also engaged me deeply with research that informs my educational philosophy. I began exploring the factors that contribute to thriving learning communities. I also inquired into the ways in which an organisation can pursue improvement goals by creating conditions that energise and motivate teams and individuals to sustain their development, face challenges, and to thrive.
These pages share discussions about 'Learners as Explorers, Leaders as Curators', and the role of 'Conversation, Collaboration and Community'. There is also an invitation here to take a peek into my 'Teacher Toolbox' and approach to 'Productive Professional Learning' to see what connects with you.
Cultivating curious and courageous learners who are committed to improvement
Creating dialogic, engaging and inclusive learning communities that sustain motivation
Energising and motivating staff to engage with professional learning
The Teacher Toolbox was designed to provide food for thought and stimulate discussions about our practice as educators, and the things we want to try or build upon. It doesn't provide answers, or step by step guides, it is simply a sharing of strategies, resources and thinking which you are invited to draw on in whatever way connects with you, your work and your context.
This resource has been created as an informal and evolving space to document and share the strategies I use to compliment the professional learning I provide as a Learning Specialist.
