When I was in high school, I was part of the AP Studio Art Class. AP Art classes allow students to experiment with various techniques on a college level. Every year the students must create a portfolio with a concentrated theme along with 12 other works demonstrating artistic skills. My portfolio was musical instruments with collage elements. I specifically chose collage as the style because I wanted to emphasize the unevenness and motion that is found in the creation of music. The paintings are in the order they were completed in throughout the year.

Around piece number 6, I began to change the overall look of the pieces. I first focused on the design of the instruments and the type of sound they produce. The element I added to the next pieces were cultural backgrounds with the addition of design elements and more colors.
