New York Public Library

Young Adult Librarian in the South Bronx (2019 - 2021)

• • Highlights:

    • During the pandemic I worked with a group of other Bronx YA Librarians to create two well attended program series, 'New Year, New You' and 'Your Best Summer', aimed at supporting teens' emotional needs and giving them tools for their transitions into adulthood 

    • Designed a localized monthly bilingual newsletter to send to educators, community organizations, and patrons to keep them informed on upcoming programs, books recommendations, and library and community updates. This simple resource, designed to be read online and printed out to be distributed, allowed us to reach our community without overwhelming them during a time of uncertainty

    • Created a 'Video Best Practices' document that is now used by all NYPL staff

    • Supported fact checking of NYPL's 2021 Connections Guide for Formerly Incarcerated Patrons

    • Participated in creating activities, filming instructional videos and book talks for Virtual Summer Camp and Virtual After School

    • Designed Social Media Campaigns used system wide on: the 2020 Census, Absentee Voting, and How to Put Books on Hold (using during our Phase 1 Grab-and-Go Services)

    • Wrote the "RRRevolution!Girl Style! Now!" blog post and collaborated on the "Are You Vote Ready?" blog post aimed at getting teens informed about voting and how to get involved in the election if they weren't of voting age

    • Hosted zine making program for Virtual Bronx Anti-Prom 2020 that was attended by over 50 teens and library staff

• Best Books for Teens Committee Member 2020 and 2021

• NYPL Library Zine! Committee Member, Editor, and Website Manager

  • Initiated an issue launch program to showcase submissions which brought over 60 attendees and 100 downloads of the new issue

• Staff Taking Action Creating Safer Spaces (STACSS) Main Facilitator and Coordinator

• Teen Reading Ambassador Mentor and Class Instructor on Graphic Design

• Outreach and Programming Intern at Picture Collection

  • Collaborated on newly implemented Picture Collection Social Media Guide

  • Created pathfinders to be used during middle and high school class visits

  • Developed database of potential community partnerships for outreach and programming

LREI - High School

• Managed and directed library move of over 10,000 volumes

• Proposed and facilitated zine workshop as part of writing component for Senior Project curriculum

• Created workflows for book processing, Social Media style guide, and Sora use guide for students

• Promoting young adult literature through readers advisory and Instagram

• Designing bulletin boards and corresponding book displays each month

• Circulating print and digital materials, shelving returned materials, and processing new acquisitions

• Supervising the library during after school hours, supporting faculty and students with research, homework help, college prep as well as social and emotional needs

Pratt Institute Library 

• Executed outreach initiative for incoming students with creation of annotated 'New to New York?' Google Map, bookmark and flyers distributed at orientation, and poster campaign throughout campus

• Implemented a full year of display case themes with accompanying book displays and corresponding passive programming

• Staffed reference and circulation desk; responsible for providing in person and phone/chat reference, stack maintenance and oversight of statistical collection
