My name is Anastasia M., and I’ve always believed that the heart of every home beats a little stronger when there’s something bubbling on the stove.
I was born in Australia, raised under the warm wing of my Greek grandmother in a small coastal town where the kitchen was never quiet and nothing ever came out of a box. My yiayia didn’t just teach me recipes, she handed down stories, traditions, and the kind of patience only bread dough can teach. We’d wake up to the scent of cinnamon and honey, or sometimes tomato and lamb simmering for hours, and I thought every home in the world must be that rich with flavor and love.
Now, at 34, I live in Nashville, Tennessee, a place that’s surprised me with its warmth, rhythm, and appetite for real, soulful food. I didn’t move here chasing culinary dreams at first. It was life being life. But soon enough, I found myself blending my grandmother’s Mediterranean touch with Southern comfort in ways that just made sense, rosemary lemon roast chicken next to creamy mac and cheese, or spanakopita with a cornbread crust (trust me, it works!).
I’m not a fancy chef with crisp whites and tweezers in the kitchen. I’m a home cook who believes that cooking should feel like a hug, not a chore. I’ve burnt things. I’ve cried over collapsed cakes. But I’ve also had those magical moments when something comes out just right, and everyone at the table closes their eyes on the first bite. That’s what I live for.
So if you’re new to cooking, or just trying to make dinner less of a panic and more of a joy, I’m right here with you. I’ll tell you when to eyeball it, when to measure, and when to breathe. Let’s mess up a little and make something beautiful anyway.
Welcome to my kitchen. Let’s make something together.
