This page displays documents I created to guide the design and development of training programs. These include design documents, which quickly summarize the goals and objectives of a training program, and storyboards, which describe development details for eLearning modules.
Design Documents
Active Listening
A software company reported that employee satisfaction had decreased by up to 15% in some areas, including potential for career growth. Although people managers at the company were trained in coaching techniques, employees reported that they did not always feel heard when it came to their career journeys.
In this design document, I recommend the following:
An eLearning course with workplace scenarios that will help learners practice their skills
Reflection activities in which learners consider their current habits and devise ways to build new habits
Examples and non-examples that help learners understand the finer nuances of the content
Associated Resources:
Editing Manuscript in Microsoft Word
A publishing company noticed that the error rate in their products had increased by over 20%. The errors were traced to communication problems that arose because new editors were not sure when or how to track changes when reviewing manuscript in Microsoft Word.
In this design document, I recommend the following:
An eLearning course with software simulations that guide learners through the steps of tracking changes
Practice documents that learners can use during and after the eLearning course
Gamification elements and other instructional strategies that help learners remain engaged and motivated
Associated Resources:
Insulin Dosing
A medical office reported that their patients' guardians were often confused about how to calculate their loved ones' insulin doses. Unfortunately, this confusion was negatively affecting patients' health. I developed this eLearning course and job aid for the medical office to provide to their patients' guardians.
In this design document, I recommend the following:
An eLearning course with scaffolded guidance for carrying out complex mathematical calculations
A job aid that learners can use every time they calculate a bolus insulin dose
Knowledge checks that provide learners with opportunities to practice their skills at frequent intervals
Associated Resources:
Decision Making
Romeo's Foods had been growing rapidly, and many members of senior leadership were employees who had been promoted internally. Although these employees were skilled in their respective areas, they did not always have the tools and skills necessary to make thoughtful, informed decisions. This led to major missteps for the company and declining customer satisfaction ratings.
In this design document, I recommend the following:
A virtual instructor-led course detailing a decision-making process and tools learners can use to facilitate that process
Group activities in which learners practice using a process to choose a course of action in a simulated workplace scenario
Whiteboard activities, discussions, and polls that allow learners to share their ideas and learn from each other
Associated Resources:
Storyboards
Insulin Dosing
The design document for this course describes an eLearning module that guides learners through the process of calculating insulin doses.
This storyboard explains how each part of the eLearning course should be developed. Elements include:
Clear descriptions of interactions, navigation, and timing
Structure and feedback for knowledge checks
Complete script for course narration
Associated Resources:
Editing Manuscript in Microsoft Word
The design document for this course describes an eLearning course that uses software simulations to guide learners through the processes of tracking and resolving changes. It also suggested incorporating elements that would maximize learner engagement and motivation.
This storyboard explains how each part of the course should be developed. Elements in the storyboard include:
Clear descriptions of interactions, navigation, and timing
Complete script for course narration

Associated Resources:
Commenting on PDFs
Communications Associates need to know how to effectively comment on PDF files so they can clearly communicate changes that need to be made to the files.
This storyboard details the design for a short video that illustrates how to use functions in Adobe Acrobat to make clear, concise comments. The storyboard includes:
A script for the narration
Descriptions of visuals and animations
Directions for demonstrating functions in the program
