EMES facilities are available to both on campus users and off campus users including academic, government, and industry clients. Users may receive training for independent operation of instrumentation or work with EMES staff to achieve your analytical goals. For some instrumentation full service analyses performed entirely by EMES staff may also be possible. Laboratory access is generally available Monday to Friday during regular working hours (7:30AM-4:30PM). For more information about lab access or sample submission please email emes.sdsmt.edu or the contact listed on the page for specific instrumentation.
EMES instrumentation use is charged at an hourly usage rate. These rates are established with the billing office at South Dakota Mines to cover maintenance and other operational costs for each instrument. The federal rate applies to academic/government users. Operator assisted rates will be charged during analyses performed entirely or in part by EMES staff. To be eligible for the User Provided Labor rate users must have been trained by the EMES staff and judged to be able to independently run the analyses from start to finish.
