Coaching Philosophy
I will expect positivity, encouragement and inspiration from myself and my staff. We will strive daily to provide a positive yet competitive atmosphere that will bring the best out in each student/athlete by focusing on developing toughness, both physical and mental, a competitive mindset and resilience. Ultimately, we hope to empower our students/athletes on and off the court
Player Expectation
We will hold our players accountable to being excellent…That is the STANDARD! No settling for less than what they are capable of doing. They will chase excellence.
Parent Responsibility
Please stay positive in the stands and when you are speaking with your daughter. We know that you will not always agree with how we do things, our rotations, playing time, etc…but it will only hurt your daughter if you are talking negatively about the coaches, other players, or the program.
“Love your kids and still allow them to struggle a bit in sports. Protecting them now can limit their development as people. Be careful not to enable, instead find ways to educate, encourage and equip them.” (Coach Jamy Belcher, The Leadership Playbook)
Commitment
Basketball season runs from November through February. We have one week off of school during the Thanksgiving Day break, three weeks off of school for Winter Break, and various other days off of school for holidays including Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Players and parents/guardians, especially Varsity, should be prepared to practice or play through those holiday breaks. As a staff we can guarantee Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day off, along with all Sundays. Other than that, practices or games are a possibility. Practice schedules for the season will come out during the first week of each month. Poor attendance will affect your daughters standing in the program. Please note that there will be team-made consequences for players that are late to practices/games or are no call/no shows.
