As a class we decided on a new logo and what we want the brand to look like for the future.
For our assignment, we were asked to up-cycle any item of apparel. I decided to transform a plain white sweatshirt into a star patch hoodie, using old jeans that don't fit anymore, and old gingham fabric pieces to create the star patches. This was an enjoyable project; I got to think creatively and strengthen my sewing skills. I loved how I could use items in my closet I don't wear anymore and put them on something I will wear.
For this assignment, we were asked to make a scrap fabric bag using any fabric and ribbon found in the sewing room. I choose faux denim fabric and lace. Using the embroidery machine I made my monogram. This was a fun project and I loved the creative freedom we had. The one thing I would change if I did this again would be to replace the lace with a silky white ribbon. The lace looks pretty but it makes the bag harder to close. I went for a Southern charm aesthetic Overall this will be a very useful bag in class throughout the year.
Recently we were assigned to sew boxer shorts. I chose my fabric and followed a video tutorial on YouTube. I enjoyed this project and learned a valuable new skill: sewing elastic onto high-tension fabric. The shorts turned out well, though they were a bit shorter than expected. Next time I'll adjust the pattern to achieve a better fit.
