About the series

The series originated from a reading of Haruki Murakami's Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World. Specific objects mentioned in the novel—a skull, a wallet, paper clips, a watch—formed the initial mood board. From there, the photographic compositions developed intuitively, eventually incorporating elements not found in the book. 

The titles of the individual pieces are named after characters from the books read during the creation of this project, including Murakami’s work, Madeline Miller's The Song of Achilles, H.G. Wells's The Island of Dr. Moreau, and Alice Winn's In Memoriam (which features lines from Lord Tennyson’s poem, Maud).
