My education and professional choices have always been motivated by the desire of learning and understanding the world’s business dynamics. With this awareness, I chose a Bachelor Program in finance at Bocconi University (Italy) and a Master Program in accounting and taxation at Mannheim University (Germany) fully taught in English and with an international perspective. During my studies, I spent a semester at Bilkent University (Turkey), and took internships in the private sector, focusing on private equity and financial controlling.
My most impactful practical experience was as a student research assistant in the Corporate Taxation and Public Finance Department at the ZEW - Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research, where I got fascinated by how taxes can substantially shape firm and individual decisions and by the relevance of fiscal policies in stimulating the economy. Therefore, I enrolled in the PhD Program in Business (Taxation Track) at the Graduate School of Economic and Social Sciences from the University of Mannheim. In 2019, I spent one semester at Questrom School of Business, Boston University (USA) where I gained insights into the American tax system, expanding my institutional knowledge beyond the European tax landscape.
Since 2021, I am assistant professor at NHH Norwegian School of Economics (Norway). I will be visiting professor at IESE Business School (Barcelona Campus) in Spring 2025. I have been visiting professor at the University of Paderborn (Germany) in Spring 2022, at Bocconi University (Italy) in Spring 2023 and 2024 and at Stanford Graduate School of Business (USA) in Spring 2024. I have been visiting researcher at the fiscal affair department at the International Monetary Fund (USA) in Summer 2023.
My research has mainly focused on the effectiveness of international initiatives on administrative tax cooperation. In my papers, I combine state-of-the-art empirical methodology with deep legal framework analysis, as shown in my publication record at the World Tax Journal, the Journal of Public Economics, and the British Tax Review. In 2022, I was granted the Marie Skłodowska Curie fellowship for the project TAXFAIR that will provide a knowledge-based framework for governments and policymakers around the world to implement an effective system for the automatic exchange of information.
