Dr. Elinor S. Meredith

Quantifying volcanic multi-hazard risk to better understand and reduce impacts on society.

I am Elinor, a natural hazards researcher specialising in volcanic multi-hazard risk. My work focuses on understanding how hazards impact populations, infrastructure, and societies across local to global scales.  

I am currently working as a Postdoctoral Researcher at IVM, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and as a Data Scientist at 510 Global, the data and digital team of the Netherlands Red Cross. I completed my PhD in 2023 at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

In 2026, I was awarded an NWO Veni Grant (320,000 euros) for my research in impact-based volcanic multi-hazard risk.

My data, tools, and insights can be used to inform risk assessment and mitigation efforts to reduce disaster risks.
