What’s up listeners, this your boy Elijah Speller and I’m back with another podcast, this is the remix ! If you haven't had the chance to check out my last podcast I previously did on the article “ How Deadly Is The Coronavirus, And Can It Be Contained,” by Maciej F. Boni , be sure to give it a listen. In this Project 4 Remix I'm going to be covering Covid-19 once again, but this time I will be conversing on the impact it's having on us now. As you know, Covid-19 has changed the way we live as human beings; some of the simplest things we were able to do before are now unavailable. Covid-19 has affected the way we communicate most importantly. Do you remember what it was like to have a normal face to face conversation ? Yea me neither.
Our number one form of communication is now through the Internet, whether it’s video chatting, text or email. Even the way we learn is now online, we don’t even have the privilege of learning in a classroom setting anymore. Now we live in a bubble. The world is at a complete stand still at the moment, public venues are closed, restaurants and even your favorite sports have been cancelled . Thousands of Americans losing their jobs came behind this, which is taking a hard hit on the economy. The government have began giving out relief funds to keep people at a equilibrium until things get back how they were. But how long you think that can last? This virus is said to have originated in China, although there is no proof that its deliberate. In result to that Chinese people are being stereotyped, racially profiled and often are called derogatory names. We shouldn't be using our rhetoric to degrade or criticize others, but instead uplift them and spread positivity.
Ph.D Sociologist Tracy Brower claims "The situation we face based on the coronavirus and COVID-19 is changing so fast and is so uncertain, there is perhaps nothing more important than the way a leader communicates. People always tend over-value leader communication above that of other employees. They focus on it, interpret it and seek to read between the lines. Uncertainty causes people to pay even greater attention to what leaders say, how they say it and what they (really) mean." Our nation leader ; President Trump communication have not been so helpful to the situation, considering the fact he went on national television and advised that everyone should inject themselves with house hold disinfectant products to fight off the virus. This is causing a lot of confusion and a sense false hope in the world.
We need to come together as one race, and that is the human race. As we are challenged by today's hardship, there are better days to come. We must trust the process and not let this pandemic define who we are as people. Keeping communication with your loves one and others around the world during this time is important. But whats more important is communicating while giving accurate information you hear from professionals. We should be taking the advantage of our social media platforms because they have the most influence on people. To be afforded the opportunity to voice our concerns, share thoughts, and show love to others around the world is a new age blessing. We should use our rhetoric to spread awareness and advise everyone to maintain social distancing until this virus is contained. Thank you all for listening and stay safe !
