2019-2020 FLL Season
Our favorite core values experience the Electric Wolves have had was Meet the Wolves Day.
You can learn more about this fun event by clicking here.
Here is a list of things we did regarding the Core Values of FIRST:
Discovery:
We discovered how to communicate over long distances. For example, when Liam and Ian went to China for two weeks, we used WeChat to communicate.
Innovation:
We used creativity & persistence to design different areas to keep the kids from Meet the Wolves day entertained & inspired about robotics.
Impact:
On Meet the Wolves day, we taught younger kids from our neighborhood how to program to get them inspired about robotics.
Inclusion:
We included each other when we played outside.
Teamwork:
We worked together to complete our Practice Core Values tasks at Electric Wolves H.Q.
Fun:
We played flyers with each other during break time. We also had fun on Meet the Wolves day, where we had a coloring contest, let the kids use a Sphero robot, and handed out gift bags to everyone.
Coopertition:
We cooperated with the Enginators team when they came over to exchange ideas, do Core Value exercises, etc.
Gracious Professionalism:
We respectfully thank people when they help us. For example, when we were raising money to buy stuff, we wrote thank you letters and gave them to the people who donated. We also gave them an Electric Wolves pin as a bonus.
Here are examples of core values regarding Robot Design:
Discovery:
We discovered that treads have more traction than wheels and that the traction helps us get up the bridge.
Since the treads are so long, they have a better chance of not mission the flags on the bridge.
Innovation:
We have an innovative touch sensor mod that helps stay on target when we are going to complete elevator.
Impact:
We used our knowledge on programming the EV3 to help us program our Arduino.
Inclusion:
We let everyone help with our programs when we were programming and we also taught others how to program during Meet the Wolves day.
Teamwork:
We worked together to put our missions together, we worked together to come up with our final robot design, and we also helped the Cedar Wood teams learn how to program.
Fun:
We had fun during Meet the Wolves day when we showed the kids the mission table and we showed them how to program a little bit.
Coopertition:
We help with each other's mission sets if one member isn't able to right then.
Gracious Professionalism:
We let the Girl Scout Samosas have one of our pieces for their robot.
Here are examples of core values regarding the Innovation project:
Discovery:
We discovered the concept of piezoelectricity and implemented it into our solution.
Innovation:
We persisted to test our road tubes and air switches.
Impact:
We learned about road tubes and air switches and then we implemented it into our solution.
Inclusion:
We shared our innovative solution with the Cedar Wood teams, and we also let them use it in the spirit of coopertition.
Teamwork:
We worked together to come up with our innovation board layout and we also worked together to create our solution.
Fun:
We joked around and played together while completing tasks. For example, one of the jokes was, "Don't be 8401!"
Coopertition:
One of our members came up with the phone app idea regarding our solution, and we let the Cedar Wood Cyborgs use the phone app as well.
Gracious Professionalism:
We respectfully agree or disagree with each other when discussing ideas.
