If you are a student that finds yourself behind in credits and with some grades of D or F on your transcript, we have a menu of options for high school credit recovery programs, including virtual classes, that allows participating students to recover credits needed for graduation, and raise a low GPA. Below are options you can discuss with your counselor.
Edgenuity Programs
The Edgenuity platform offers online credit recovery courses in two models:
a. Edgenuity Virtual:
Students engage in fully online learning and assignments at their own pace, with assistance from the Edgenuity virtual tutor. Support is provided by a LA Unified mentor teacher credentialed in any subject, who assists students with study skills and test preparation strategies.
b. Edgenuity Blended:
The online instruction is augmented by a teacher credentialed in the subject being taught, in a lab-type setting. Students receive differentiated teaching to meet their needs, and assignments and tests are completed on the Edgenuity platform. Students can log into their enrolled class outside of specified lab hours to work on tasks.
Performance Assessment Student Support (PASS)
The PASS program provides a unique opportunity to recover credits for Math and ELA courses that students previously failed or earned a D. Each course is structured into modules, and students progress through the modules at their own pace completing a series of embedded assessments to measure their understanding and proficiency. Whenever they experience challenges meeting proficiency, teachers provide personalized instruction, resources and practice materials. The PASS program has delivery options for in-person instruction and for virtual blended instruction.
