Some quotes on the use of online dictionaries
“Online and electronic dictionaries are easy ways to access a dictionary or a thesaurus. Many online dictionaries are available on the Internet, and looking up a word online takes a fraction of the time of doing it” (Hinkel, 2015, pp. 197, 198).
The use of online dictionaries “motivates students to learn how to write in English independently and better” (Tananuraksakul, 2015, p. 11).

The following three slideshows demonstrate how the word of the day can be implemented in the classroom, through the use of technology and online dictionaries, at the elementary (3rd and 4th) and middle school levels. Most of the words were retrieved from some of the online dictionaries above. Other terms, are part of the list of words that content teachers introduce to English learners in math and science.
