Since 1894, Escondido High School's Cougars have been known as ferocious and unrelenting on the athletic field, gymnasium, or track. San Diego County featured two rivals who seemed to annually battle it out- San Diego High Cavers and EHS Cougars. The Class of 1971 had the honor of playing one of the greatest high school football games ever against the Cavers in 1969. The two champions slugged it out to a tie to become Co-Champions of the county. The Cavers were expected to win the game easily since each man on the Cougar offensive line was outweighed at least 100 pounds by the Cavers. You can find game film of that game and lots more below.
