40th Reunion

Close to 200 people attended the 40th Reunion over a two-day period on June 29-30, 2011. Classmates first met Friday night at a private event at Champion's Restaurant during "Cruisin' Grand" for a few hours. Even Coach Embrey showed up to say hello to the class. The next day we had a private tour of the old high school, walking around and seeing all of the new buildings including a new gymnasium and a brand new football field and athletic facilities. Then that night everyone met at Hacienda de Vega on south Escondido Blvd. Locals remember this place as Pat Brillo’s Adobe Hacienda Mexican Restaurant. In 1972, Benny Cueva Sr. purchased the property and renamed the restaurant Los Amigos. The home’s swimming pool became the dining deck pond and Benny built the waterfall that feeds it. The restaurant is now permanently closed.
