PROCEDURES AND RULES
CLASS PROCEDURE –
Appropriate behavior will be expected at all times. Refusal to do so will result in loss of points.
Required workout clothing must be worn in order to participate. NO ripped clothing, tank tops, NO workout bras-chest must be covered, NO mid-drift showing, NO jean shorts. T-shirt, shorts, sweats, leggings are acceptable. If you are not sure, ask your teacher.
Proper athletic shoes must be worn. No street shoes/flips flops will be allowed, no matter what the shoe is made of. This is for your protection as well as the protection of the gym surface.
Students will be given five (5) minutes at the beginning of class to dress and five (5) minutes at the end of class to dress.
When you cannot participate due to injury or illness, a note from a doctor or home is needed. If possible, you will be expected to dress out.
Lockers and locks will be issued. Students are responsible for their locks. Losing your lock is a fine of $10.00. Make sure you lock up all your belongings.
Do not bring money or valuables to class. Our locker rooms cannot be supervised at all times.
If you are injured, you must report it to a teacher immediately. After appropriate first aid is administered, an Injury Report must be filed.
RULES –
Rules must be implemented to insure a safe and comfortable learning environment.
No food, drink or gum in the gym facilities.
You must have a pass when arriving late or early.
Students must remain by the gym lobby until the passing bell rings
Students will not be allowed to use P.E. facilities without adult supervision.
Students with free periods are not allowed in the gym, weight room, or locker rooms without permission.
Students who do not dress out will lose points as well as be expected to remain in class.
Profanity is not allowed.
Bullying will not be tolerated.
IMPORTANT – Some activities in Physical Education have potential for injury. If you cannot participate safely in any activity, notify the teacher. If you are injured during class, please notify the teacher.

ASSESSMENT IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION
GRADING
In order to successfully achieve four out of the five Physical Education Content Standards, it is essential to actively and consistently participate in your Physical Education class. Each student will start with 100%. Points are based in expectations and performance:
Daily Expectation – 6 points per day
Team Sport Skills (Jeffco Rubrics Performance Scale) – 4 points per sport
Team Sports Skills Test – 10 points
Aerobics (Fitness Test) – 4 points per test
Team Sports Final – 25 points / Aerobics Final Project – 25 points
Demonstration of exercises to improve speed, agility, power - 1 point
Demonstration of proper lifting technique - 1 point
Proper use of equipment - 1 point
Weight Training Final - 25 points
GRADING SCALE
100 – 90% = A
80– 89.9% = B
70 – 79.9% = C
60 – 69.9% = D

Six points will be awarded to you when you achieve the above expectations. Points will be deducted if expectations are not met.

NOTE: Students will not receive points for excused absences, even if for illness. Students have two weeks to make arrangements for making-up absences. If you don’t make-up your absences, they will count against you. You cannot make-up unexcused absences.
Examples of What May Be Required to Make-Up Absences:
Write a one-page paper (MLA format) per absence on assigned topic. Sources need to be documented.
Special project arranged between you and the teacher.
20 minutes of activity during access or after school.
