Kwik Save is a now defunct discount shopping store that ran from 1959 to 2007. Kwik Save had a store at Cruddas Park Shopping Centre, either outside of the building according to a former worker, or where the Children's Services unit is now according to a resident. Supposedly, it was either demolished or taken over by Children's Services in November 1996. [12]
The store number for Cruddas Park Kwik Save was 477, and area manager was Ellen Kennedy. [3]
The Chieftan was a public house that ran across the front exterior of the Shopping Centre. The pub could be entered from the Front, and from inside the Shopping Centre.
It was opened at the opening of the entire building itself in 1969. [13][14] The Chieftan closed between 2009 and 4th April 2011, as Google Maps coverage last shows it being open in 2009, and a flickr post shows the Pub in a derelict state, usually placing the date as c. 2010. [15][16] All of the signage and colour was removed between 2012 and 2015. [17] The unit remains empty today.
Fish & Chips is a fish and chips takeaway store that can be seen on the Store List outside of Cruddas Park House.
There is a company named 'Cruddas Park Fish and Chips Ltd.' ran by Rashid Ali, that was located in Unit 4b, and was dissolved in 2018. [18]
Martin's is a newsagent that was at Cruddas Park and is seen on the Store List outside of Cruddas Park House. [19]
The Soapbox Launderette was a laundromat that was open between 2012 (as mentioned in the email address) to after 9th March 2014 (Last post from the Facebook Profile). [10]
The store offered typical laundromat services, such as drying for 20 pence and the use of numerous washers. The Facebook Profile posted about washing and drying two quilts for the price of one, before then never posting again after March 9, 2014. The profile supposedly updated its cover September 8, 2022, the same day that Queen Elizabeth II died. [20][21]
Boots (also called Boots the Chemist) was a pharmacy at the front exterior of Cruddas Park (Unit 10) [22] that had an open unit, until its closure on March 2, 2024. [23] The store manager was Jyh Shin Shim. [24]
Reviews have been put in place to try and bring back Boots in Cruddas Park, as well as Kenton and Heaton. [25]
Oasis Cafe was a community cafe that closed c. 2020.
The cafe was opened for homeless and elderly to spend Boxing Day at on December 26, 2016. [26]
