In the drivetrain group, we are responsible for transferring the power from the motor to the wheels as efficiently as possible. Our work combines mechanical design, simulation, optimization, and manufacturing, giving you the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge to real race-car components and see your designs come to life. Our work includes:
Gearboxes - Determining optimal drive ratios and optimizing drivetrain efficiency
Brakes - Designing and developing safety and performance-critical systems
Pedals - Designing ergonomic systems with a focus on driver comfort and control
Mechanical design - Designing complex mechanical components such as wheel hubs, uprights, and brake calipers
Structural optimization - Designing lighter and stronger components using FEM analysis and topology optimization
Manufacturing - Manufacturing critical components in-house and designing parts with manufacturability in mind
