In the Autonomous group, we handle everything related to the autonomous part of Formula Student. This work creates a great opportunity to learn how Autonomous automotive systems work and apply theoretical knowledge from college to a real project, for example, through a bachelor's or master's thesis. Our work includes:
Perception - Computer Vision, as our only perception sensor is the mono lens camera
Path Planning - Algorithmic approach for finding the path or trajectory the vehicle should move on
SLAM - Localization and mapping of the track to receive a global map
Controls - Control theory applied to the vehicle to give input to the actuators
Vehicle Dynamics - Optimization of the torque distribution as the vehicle consists of four electric motors, each one in a different wheel hub
Software architecture - Architecture of our own ecosystem, including simulators and debugging tools
And much more...
