Microplastic pollution
Microplastics (MPs), defined as plastic particles less than 5 mm in size, are distributed globally, reaching terrestrial, marine, and even atmospheric environments. MPs accumulate in aquatic ecosystems, including marine and freshwater habitats, disrupting their balance. In particular, hazardous chemicals adsorbed on MPs can be transported to organisms and spread through the food chain, ultimately impacting human health.
This deepening environmental crisis requires multidisciplinary solutions. Efforts to address this crisis are crucial for protecting the environment and public health, and lay the foundation for sustainable development.
