Week 10

Next stage of the study is conducted using data obtain from the rivernet.lk website (url : http://rivernet.lk/_kaluganga-overview/ ) . This website shows the water level of Kalu ganga and its major sub rivers which are contribute towards floods in Rathnapura area. However, it shows only latest 24 hour data. Sample time of the data is 1 minute.

We collected data from the website to form a data set using web scrapping method. For the final study we use data collected for 3 weeks which include 30000+ data points. sample of the data set created is shown below.

Multivariate analysis was able to carry out using this collected data set.

Until we were able to collect sufficient data, we try to study the capability of using exponential smoothing method to predict and short term forecast the water level of Kalu ganga. ( More on this in Week 3 page )
